THIS WEEK!
Every week is a good week when you are in the service of the Lord! We had a wonderful regional broadcast from Salt Lake City where Elder Oaks gave such amazing instruction on how to do member missionary work and strengthening less active members. Obviously as a missionary that is what stood out to me. Elder Oaks talked about how only half of the time missionaries have is being filled with teaching. We are only capable of finding half or so of the people who can be taught. We NEED the members to be looking and working on finding investigators as well. The best way to do the work is by going through members. We missionaries truly love those that we have the opportunity to teach, we would love to teach more :)
We here in the Mt Pleasant ward are getting really excited for the baptism of Scott, Scott Jr and JB this Saturday! it is going to be a wonderfully spiritual occasion. I cant wait to tell all y'all about it next Monday!
I love all y'all and wish you a BLESSED week!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!
Happy Mothers Day to all y'all!! Mothers Day was a highlight of the week because I got to talk to my family! AND Scott, Scott Jr and JB all got confirmed in sacrament meeting! It was a wonderful day :) The baptism was probably the biggest even of the week. Even President and Sister Weed came to support the new converts. It was amazing to watch them each enter the water and be baptized, making those sacred covenants with their Heavenly Father. We had to fill the font so much for the adults that when Scott Jr got in he could almost go swimming in it! Haha it was so cute. I will let the pictures tell the story :) I love all y'all and wish you a BLESSED week!
ANOTHER WEEK
There are so many changes happening in the mission and exciting news. We will no longer be having zone meetings because we now have more zone conferences, and the meetings were just taking up so much time and travel. We are also having another 70 come tour the mission! At the beginning of next month Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr will be coming to visit and teach us! It is so exciting.
This week we had a lot of little fun moments. Like when we were finishing up Sister Hadlock's training for the day and we heard a familiar jingle in the distance.... It was the ice cream truck! So we quickly grabbed our money and ran like our lives depended on it! We made it just in time to get some ice cold treats
Or when we were catching fireflies outside of a members house, or got panda express for the first time after 15 months!! Or maybe when we took fun pictures in front of a field and with a pony. Or eating at a super cute old fashioned burger place. Oh the fun little things, they are what make life worth it sometimes. I hope all y'all have a blessed week like mine :) LOVE YOU
EVERYONE NEEDS THE GOSPEL
This week we had a wonderful zone conference up in Newport News, which meant that we got to go through the BIG tunnel and the bridge over the water! It was so fun. We carpooled with the sister training leaders in their brand new car. The meeting was all about how to work with members and keep recent converts active. It was really helpful and sense then we have been better with members, getting to know them and encouraging them to do their own missionary work as well as praising them for the work they are already doing. One of my favorite take aways from the meeting is that we all have different strengths in sharing the gospel. Some people might be really good at finding new investigators, activating less actives, fellowship, and some might be good at social media things. The point is that we all have something that we are good at and enjoy, so do it :) It can be FUN! I loved that.
My funny experience this week started as we were driving down a street we have driven down many times before. We waved at a man sitting on his steps and decided we would go talk to him. We started to have such a wonderful conversation with him about his life and his recent desire to find God. He had been honest with us as we walked up and let us know he was drinking. Well while we were talking to him another man from across the street decided he would come say "hi". His original intentions were to give us a hard time, but when he felt the spirit he immediately started complimenting us on our missionary work. He had also been drinking but we could tell he had had a lot more than Mark, the first man. Well now we had two slightly tipsy men who each wanted to talk. So I talked to Demus. The conversation was good up til they almost broke out in a fight!! We were about to say a prayer and get the spirit back when Demus started swearing a being rude. I had to count down and yell the beginning of the prayer to get them to stop!! But then Demus left and we were left with Mark who was really nice and sweet. We are going back to see him tomorrow :) so that is how the spirit can stop drunk fights. Everyone needs the gospel :)
I love y'all and hope you have a blessed week!
