Snow
This week was a lot of fun and a lot of frustration. Well our car was in the shop for about two days because it had to stay overnight. We needed a new part, but luckily it was all covered under the warranty!! So that was really good. And I am just so grateful AGAIN to the wonderful members of our ward who help us when we ask. Sister Sparrow had driven us around for a bit on Tuesday and dropped us off at the library to email. Well after we had emailed we realized that we were stuck there in the cold and dark. So we called Sister Hansen who came right away to pick us up and was so kind to take us to her home and feed us :) Then she passed us off to Sister Jensen who came with us to see a woman that lived in the middle of nowhere, then dropped us off at home. Wednesday we still didn't have a car so we called Sister Sparrow again and she came with us to see a coupe people and drove us back and forth to the dealership to check on our car. Well it wasn't done and Sister Sparrow had to go. So Brenda came out with us and spent quite a long time driving around with us to our different people. She was able to drop us off at the dealership to get our car :) Just truly wonderful members :) Then Thursday and Friday were normal. Which is sad because Friday we were supposed to drive up to Virginia for a mission wide conference with Elder Cook... :( it got canceled because of a massive snow storm that hit Friday night. We were told that the second snow hits the ground we need to park our car. Well Saturday morning was sad to look out the window, all we saw was white. This snow is not like Utah snow. This snow is white ice that falls from the sky and freezes the roads! Well the work must go on! So we walked.... and walked.. and walked.... we met a few people along the way they were as crazy as us to be out. But non of them wanted to listen to our message. Sunday church was canceled... :( but the wonderful Youngs braved the roads (they are from Idaho) and picked us up for a lunch at their house. It was nice to be in a car traveling. Sunday was much like Saturday with all the walking. But hey, it was fun to play on the ice. And neither Sister Kerr or I fell on the ice!! Even though there were a few close calls. Blessed. We tried to get creative and did some phone call lessons with people. Some calls were good but not all of them were great. Needless to say we are very happy to be able to drive today even though some of the roads are still not ideal. It was a fun week and we are looking forward to the warm weather that is said to be coming to melt all the snow.
I hope all Y'all are having a blessed week! I love ya!!
Is it Winter?
Monday we got ungrounded so we were able to drive! It was wonderful, it was still a bit icy but that is okay. Well North Carolina winters are crazy because on Sunday we had ice and on Thursday and Friday I didn't even need to wear a sweater! The weather is so weird but beautiful here. This week we had a little while to go and visit with less actives that we didn't know. It was really fun to be out in the country parts of our area. It is just so pretty. Makes me miss Gloucester. My favorite miracle from this past week was probably Brother Adams. He is the husband to a less active woman. We are teaching their family and their two boys are set for baptism on February fourth! Well Brother Adams has been living the word of wisdom. He had talked to his wife about it before we even taught it. She convinced him to do it for his Heavenly Father. So he gave it a try. We taught the word of wisdom and then followed up with him a few days later. In his words he said "IT WORKS!". Stunned at this strong answer we asked how he knows that it works. He told us a story about how he had a break light out on his truck that he needed to get fixed. He replaced the light but it still didn't work. It was going to cost a lot to put the truck in the shop to get it figured out, so he decided to pray. He told his Heavenly Father that he was sacrificing his coffee and tea for him, so if he could give a little in return that would be great. Well after his prayer his light worked and he hasn't needed to fix it. It is always wonderful when we see miracles happen from our obedience. Brother Adams didn't understand why he needed to not drink coffee or tea but he did it because it was asked of him by God. I love hearing these stories, they remind me why I am out on a mission.
I hope you all have a blessed week!
This Week
This week has been full of fun and lessons! We helped out with the scout BBQ plate fund raiser. We got to touch the pig.... eww. I cant decide if I like North Carolina BBQ yet... it has a strong smell, but it is good. This area is just so amazing we have been getting new investigators that are falling out of the sky! We even had someone approach us and asked if we had "one of those Mormon books" that he could have. So we gave him a book of Mormon and asked how he had heard of it. He said he had just always wanted to read it. And then another lady asked for one when she saw him get one. We have been finding new people from headquarter referrals and the investigators that we had already are progressing so well. The Wilson field is white and seems to be harvesting itself! As Sister Kerr put it "we are just supervising" :). This area is full of miracles, I am so blessed to be here to watched all of these people come to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ! It is an amazing feeling to be a part of. So talk to your neighbors, go out with the missionaries, talk to the less active members around you! Start having your own missionary experiences. The world is a field and it is ready to be harvested :)
Love you all and wish you a blessed week!
New Things
This past week has been full of exciting news! First we had a world wide missionary conference with the church missionary council. We learned all about how to teach repentance and help people endure to the end. Plus a special surprise was that our missionary schedule changed! It used to be that we would get up at 6:30am, exercise til 7:00, shower, get ready, and be kneeling for prayers to start studies at 8:00, one hour of personal study and one hour of companion study, out the door at 10:00 to proselyte. Then, we would get one hour for lunch and one hour for dinner, come home at 9:00 pm and plan for half and hour. NOW it is sometime between 6:30 and 10:00 we need to exercise for half and hour, have personal study for and hour, plan for half an hour and get ready for the day, out the door at 10:00. We have half and hour for lunch and an hour for dinner, with half and hour of companion study. Come home at 9:00 and get ready for bed. I am really excited for this new schedule, it started today. Another change is that preparation day now starts at 8:00 am instead of 10:00!! That one is really great!
Well after all of this new news came we had a really good lesson with the Adams family. Timothy and Anthony had scheduled baptismal interviews for Saturday. We have been working with Brother Adams and he too said that he would get an interview!!!!!!! This was amazing, he had been taking the lessons but was very quiet and wouldn't commit to baptism. Well he committed to get interviewed so that is one step closer. Finally Saturday came around and they all three passed their interviews! That evening we had a lesson with them and asked Brother Adams if he will be getting baptized on February 4th with his boys.... HE SAID YES!!!! I am just so excited for this wonderful family. And now they can all work towards going through the temple to get sealed. It is so special to help a family come closer to being eternal. I LOVE THEM! Needless to say Sister Kerr and I had a little scream party on the way home that night :).
And Sister Lyons came to Wilson to go on her last exchange with ME. She left for the mission home today and will be with her family tomorrow :) I cant believe that I already have two companions home. Before I know it it will be me on that plane. But while I am here I will use the time that I have been given to the fullest!
I wish you all a blessed week and a wonderful rest of your day :):)
So Much Is Happening
Wow this week has been great. It was the last week in this transfer so you know what that means... transfer calls! But I will get to that in a bit. First exciting news... the Adams got baptized!! Timothy and Anthony and Brother (Billy) Adams all were baptized on the fourth of February! It was a beautiful baptism. Sister Adams gave a short talk, basically her testimony. Then the three of them were baptized. They all did great :) they looked like little angles in white.
Okay so now what you have all been waiting for (its what I had been waiting for) transfer calls! So just before the baptism we got a call from President Weed. You only get calls from President Weed for transfers if you or your companion are training, becoming a Sister Training leader, or opening an area, or else the assistants call you. So first he talks to Sister Kerr.... she got called to be a Sister Training leader in Norfolk Virginia and to finish someones training! Double whammy. Well that made us a little confused because I have been in Wilson longer, so it would seem that I should be the one to get transferred. Before we could finish our thought President Weed asked if I would accept a call to go to Mt pleasant (Chesapeake Virginia).... we are both getting transferred! Wilson is getting white washed. It just seemed so crazy to us. Well these past few days have been even crazier because we are getting the area ready for two missionaries who have never been here, one of them is fresh from the MTC.
So life is good here as we pack and take lots of notes. I am excited to go to Virginia again. I have loved Wilson but I look forward to new adventures. I hope your week will be as exciting as mine! Love you all!!
Hey Y'all!!
So I got transferred! Mt Pleasant is so beautiful! It is basically all neighborhoods of really nice homes... we have about 1.5 investigators and not many less actives that we are working with. But hopes are high that things will start to change for the better. My new companion, Sister Jones, is AWESOME!! She is so great, such a hard worker, and full of love for being a missionary and the people. I love her.
I was asked to give a talk on Sunday, kinda introduce myself and talk about the Plan of Salvation. We had one investigator, Scott, at church. So I got to look out over the congregation the entire time.
The area seem really good, it is right next to the mission office and the home of President and Sister Weed. Haha I was wondering if I had done something wrong! But its all good. My companion just got out of training so I am follow up training her, but she really is the one training me :) Her trainer was Sister Ashton... haha the same trainer of my other companion that I follow up trained. I just think that is so funny. Sister Ashton is a wonderful missionary, there must be something I need to learn from her through her other companions :).
Well I love you all and wish all Y'all a blessed week!!
