Well I am in Gloucester (Gloster) it is almost the furthest north part of the mission. We are surrounded by water it seems like, and we get to go over really fun bridges for meetings. I am in Virginia and in a car. I hope when it gets warmer I will to be able to be in a bike area to feel like I am actually moving around in the day.
My mission president is awesome! I love him and his wife is even better. They are just so cute and loving and understanding. Our first night here we stayed in a hotel and I defiantly slept on the rolling bed because missionaries cant share beds and I didn't want anyone else to have to do that.... so I didn't really sleep and I'm pretty sure I have bruises from the springs. That made the next day interesting because I was exhausted.
My comp is way awesome. Her name is Sister Lyons and I love her. We get along super well and we just think the same and like a lot of the same things. She is from Idaho and has been on her mission for seven months. We are staying in a cute little house with three rooms, two bathrooms (I get my own!!) and a kitchen with a living room and laundry room! Its just so cute, I'll send pictures.
Virginia is so pretty and I just cant stop staring at all the trees!! Even in the winter it is so green. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the thought that when it snows and everything shuts down..... Its weird, but makes sense. They arent equipped for snow and the roads would be really scary.
So we dont get iPads.... sad day. I guess we were supposed to but they just haven't.... I'm sad but I hope they get them while I am still here because they would just be so great.
I have this thing called 12 week training and it just has a list of think that I need to do and so one of them was invite someone to be baptized.....on Sunday there was a women who came to church. She was with her brother, so the elders and us did an impromptu gospel principles class for them. Found out that she is not a member but is really interested in learning. So as we were all talking about the lesson on faith my comp starts drawing the symbol for baptism on her hand and keeps looking at me, so finally I get the hint and say ok. I was feeling it to. So in the middle of a pause I looked at her and just said that I have two questions for her. The first was "do you feel that you have found what was missing in your life through this gospel?" She said yes "ok good :)" Then next "Then will you follow the example of Jesus Christ....." then she said YES!!! I didn't even finish my question. So I went on "and be baptized?" She was so excited and just kept saying yes. Later when the elders called us that night to get our weekly numbers they said that they felt like we stepped on their toes.... in this area we have a line that divides the elders side and the sisters because the area is big. Alice was on their side of that line. So I felt really bad... but my comp and I talked about it after (she handled the call really well, I would have just been so sorry but she just said thank you for telling us so that we can be better)(i love her) and we decided that I shouldn't feel bad for acting on a prompting and the elders shouldn't make me feel bad. Then today we got a letter from our mission president and it talked all about letting the spirit work through us, that it isn't about us but them and the work being done. So that was that story.
Our investigators are really nice. Oh ps, Sunday night we got another baptism commitment from a part member family!! Fast Sunday is great. Um other than that I am just plugging along. We replaced a lot of light bulbs today so that was good. I sleep like a baby. And I want to go to Yorktown and all of those places soon, if we can get permission to leave our area. So ya that is my weekly report. I love you so sososososososo much and hope you are having tons of fun!
Well trust the Lord and He will get you through anything that the world throws at you. Lean on Christ and His Atonement for comfort and forgiveness. Read the scriptures to find answers and peace. Feed the missionaries and have them do service for you. Your prayers are always heard and we can all return to live with our Heavenly Father. His grace will make up the rest, AFTER all we can do. Show your faith and take the simple steps. Be like Moses, he had to get his feet wet too.
(This is from Allis mission president) Sister Baker and I were delighted to welcome Sister Alexandra Black to the Virginia Chesapeake Mission on Tuesday. She arrived in good spirits and has been assigned to labor in the Gloucester B Ward of the Newport News VA Stake. Her trainer is Sister Meagan Lyons.
